Day 2 Visiting the Sunflower Orphanage Dec. 2009

An excerpt from Stuart's email:

"Monday was wonderful. We met Darwin, Floyd and the rest of the orphans. Trev would like to adopt Floyd too! He was so good with them. We gave one of the Lego sets Payton picked out to Floyd and he loved it. Darwin loved his too. Trev helped him put it together. Today we will work at the Sunflower more until like 4:30 then take the train to Agua Caliente. Tomorrow is Machu Pichu early morning.
I rode on the back of a dirtbike with Carlos from the Sunflower down to Urubamba to buy paint. Quite an experience. Darwin was shocked to see us. They made the reception line to throw flower petals on us when we got off the bus. I stopped and gave him a big hug and told him who I was. I really think he was in shock. He hung with us during the performance the other kids did. Darwin watched the family videos on Trev´s camera many times. Floyd even knows from memory Payton and Marli´s names."

The Sunflower Orphanage for New Years 2010!!

My husband Stuart and our 15 year old son Trevin are on a trip with Generations Humanitarian to give some much needed service to the Sunflower Orphanage in Peru. They are having some amazing experiences and have only been there a few days. Here is a recent email from Day 1:

"We finally made it! This place is amazing!! After 26 hours in airports or on airplanes we made it to Cuzco, spent enough time there to eat lunch, then went to Pisac for shopping. We are in Urubamba now. I really love the Peruvians, they are so pleasant and sweet and happy. The mountains and river are incredible! We almost ran over some pigs, dogs, sheep, llama´s-you name it while riding the bus. I had an alpaca steak for lunch....hmmmm
Our group is all great. Everyone a bit lethargic as some had longer trips than us even. Because of that we didnt see ruins today most people are too tired. Not me, I´ve been bright-eyed and wide awake, not wanting to miss a sight. Other people slept on the bus rides. Not me. So many fascinating things to see!"

Our New Blog

Hello! Welcome to the new blog of Generations Humanitarian, geared towards families in the adoption process of our children at El Girasol orphanage out of Cusco, Peru. We hope that our friends who have completed this tedious process, are currently in the process, or are thinking about starting the process will find this blog to be a network of support and aid. Please feel free to ask questions or give advice on what you know or want to know. As we grow and continue to develop we hope this becomes a tool to those who use it.
